How we started
Cruz Fresno was born from a simple yet powerful realization: many of our neighbors in the Fresno area were eligible for essential benefits but simply didn’t know how to access them. Starting out as a small grassroots effort, a group of community members noticed the struggles faced by families in neighborhoods like West Fresno and the Tower District. They decided to create a program that would help bridge the gap between these residents and much-needed services.
With vehicle donation as the funding mechanism, Cruz Fresno transformed old, unused cars into resources for connecting individuals with programs like CalFresh, Medi-Cal, and WIC. The mission was clear: leverage the power of community to ensure everyone in Fresno could access the support they deserve. Today, we continue this work, driven by a commitment to our neighbors and a belief that knowledge of available resources can change lives.
